Being that it’s Academy Awards season I figured I’d start off my first week of this watching movies that have won a Best Picture Oscar or at least were nominated.
Title: Silence of the Lambs
Length:
In what room I watched it in: Bedroom
Who I watched it with: Myself
Reason I bought the DVD: Read the Hannibal Lecter books by Thomas Harris. Actually of the three original Hannibal Lecter movies, Silence of the Lambs was the last one I saw, even though it’s the most famous.
15 word plot summary: Clarice searches for killer, asks
"Hello, Clarice"
Awesomest Character:
Favorite Quote and when I’ve quoted it in outside life: “It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.” –
Try to use this quote as much as I can. Only fits though when people are talking about baskets or hoses or lotion. Get a funny look only when people haven’t seen the movie.
Random actor: Obba Bobatunde- Reporter on TV screen
While watching the movie I noticed this actor who looked very familiar. The reason is that I remember him from the movie How High as the snooty professor. While normally I wouldn’t remember someone like that, I know who he is mainly because I lost a bet that he was Billy Dee Williams otherwise known as Lando Calrisian on Star Wars. Of course I lost the bet. Also lost a follow-up thinking he was Apollo Creed from Rocky. No it wasn’t Carl Weathers either. Normally this space is for an actor that made me like the movie more, but in this case I just thought it was funny that I was him, though now I realized that he looks nothings like the other people. Also look for lounge singer Chris Isaak as a random police office random police officer
Do they say the title in the movie: Yup, said by Hannibal Lecter 1:12 into the movie
"Would you f#@% me, I'd f#@% me."
Best Scene: When Lecter escapes and takes that guys face and makes it his own…awesome!
When will I feel the need to watch it again: Maybe in another year or so, not the most rewatchable movie, but still very good.
Best IMDB Fact: “After being cast as Buffalo Bill, Ted Levine had done a lot of research into developing his character by reading profiles of serial killers. Levine later said that he found the material very disturbing. He also went out and attended a few transvestite bars, where he began interviewing patrons, as Bill was also a cross-dresser.” Pretty intense stuff
